Punjabi Samaj was founded in 1972 by few like minded people. Realizing that all the communities in Jamshedpur had some place for gathering and having some programs of the community. A committee was formed

The effort was started by Mr.Prem Sehgal and Mr.Sudesh Chatrath. All the Punjabis of Jamshedpur were invited for free dinner at Arya Samaj where about 1200 people including Ladies & Children participated. They were convinced for a Samaj for the community. Some 60 people became members on the spot.

 

Then door to door visits were made where we found very good response. People were very generous and we collected about Rs.55000/- in one day which was great encouragement for us.

 

We continued visits to different areas for membership drive and collection . We were welcomed by the people and gladly contributed and become members . In 2 Months time Membership rose to 156 and collection was about Rs.6,00,000/- In 2014 Punjab Association was merged with Punjabi Samaj and present membership is about 400. Highest contribution were made by Mr. K.L Khosla and Mr. Mulkraj Sachdev.

 

At present we have 3 properties with us.

  • Since 1995 running Lajpat Public School near Hawrah Bridge Sakchi having more than 200 students.
  • At Patamda about 3.5 acre of Land which had boundary Wall and 3 rooms.
  • Half acre plot at Golmuri Inclab ,Road allotted by Tisco .
  • Lajpath School running since 1995 has more than 200 students.
  • More than 25 Eye Camps organizes for under privilege.
  • More than 15 health check up camps in rural area in and around Jamshedpur.
  • Punjabi Samaj organizes Diwali , Baisakhi , Lohari,Annual Picnic , Karwa Chouth.
